Counting The Cost Of Fish & Chips For An iGaming Client
The Project
For this project, WDW Bingo were looking to strengthen their overall website link profile and attract high quality links from national and regional newspapers to build domain authority and link profile quality in a very competitive niche.
Working with the brand, we identified the opportunity for relevant data-led campaigns with a high human interest angle which would appeal to broad audience and journalists for coverage, while also landing some great coverage back for the brand.
Our Approach
Ahead of national Fish & Chip Day and in line with the rising costs of living, we wanted to create a “Fish and Chip Index” which essentially ranked the cost of Fish & Chips at areas right across the UK. In turn, this would have both a national and regional appeal in the towns/cities where the costs were high/low, allowing for the campaign to have a good reach and also resonate with a high human interest angle (the rising costs of a traditional favourite fish and chips!)
In order to carry out this data analysis, we look at data from Just Eat to rank the cost of an average portion of chips in various cities across the UK and then standardised this data. For this particular piece we focused on “cod” as our fish of choice and a standard sized portion of chips which was available at the vast majority of fish and chip shops. The results were a little alarming (!) with the average price of a fish and chips coming in at around £11.71
We then broke this data out into regional datasets with hooks and angles for each area allowing us to outreach effectively with a human interest hook in each region.
